The HavanaReviews.com team visited this supremely located & beautiful ocean front restaurant paladar restaurant which is 5 minutes from Old Havana. The Rio Mar Paladar is a modern designed restaurant in Havana with an outstanding ambience, which is quite unique for Havana. The food is excellent and the service is great. Rio Mar Paladar is the perfect place for a pleasant dinner by the sea or a romantic dinner for two while watching the sunset.

The HavanaReviews.com team tried different dishes, all of them were super, the lobster being exquisite. If you are looking for a restaurant with international standards, out of the tourist zones of old Havana, allied to excellent food, this is the place to go in Havana.

The Daiquiris, which were well served and perfectly blended, almost to Floridita Bar standards! The Rio Mar Paladar was quite busy for a Wednesday night when we visited.

Hotel Santa Isabel Havana Review

Havana Reviews Cruise Port location, Colonial design, Supreme service

The HavanaReviews.com team stayed at delightful Santa Isabel Hotel Havana which stands in Plaza de Armas, home to Havana’s regular book fair and souvenir vendors. Santa Isabel Hotel Havana houses twenty-seven 27 spacious 19th century vintage rooms, tastefully decorated and equipped with all the contemporary facilities and comforts that distinguish this hotel, such as its elegant restaurant, spectacular interior courtyard and a glorious upstairs terrace which offers a stunning view of the Havana cruise port and of neighboring colonial buildings of old Havana. While the HavanaReviews.com team were at the hotel many of the rooms were occupied by cruise passengers who’d booked a night in Colonial Havana.

The cruise port is literally 2 minutes from the Santa Isabel Hotel Havana.

Furthermore, recent work on renovating the Port of Havana has left this whole area looking astounding with panoramic views up through the port and across to the “Cristo” or Christ statue which looks down over the Santa Isabel Hotel Havana.

Hotel Sevilla Havana Review

Hotel Sevilla Havana

Address: Trocadero 55 e Prado y Zulueta Habana, Havana, Cuba

Havana Reviews Perfect Old Havana Location, well managed, good value

The HavanaReviews.com team stayed at the 4 star Hotel Sevilla run by the French chain Mercure. The Hotel Sevilla Havana colonial style building was built in 1908 and is right next to the Prado Avanue, Havana’s art museum and revolution museum and just minutes from the Capital Building and all of Old Havana’s attractions. We found the hotel to be excellently located but offers no views of anything other than adjacent streets. However, the price and 4 star service of Hotel Sevilla Havana makes it a niche hotel which offers excellent prices and service just one step down from its 5 star neighbor, the Hotel Parque Central. Centrally located in the heart of Havana which offers the perfect location to discover the city and unlike many of the other smaller boutique hotels the Hotel Sevilla has a large pool.

Hotel Sevilla Havana Pool

The spectacular view from the restaurant of Hotel Mercure Sevilla located at the roof-terrace is probably the only place in the hotel where views are good; rooms do not have such views. Next to the Prado and Parque Central and just a short stroll from Havana’s seafront thoroughfare called El Malecón. Our HavanaReviews.com team stayed in a standard room which was clean and well kept throughout our 2 night stay. The hotel has a nice interior bar and a tiny shopping mall on the ground floor. The Hotel Sevilla Havana provides excellent access to all of Old Havana’s many attractions and the price will not damage your Cuban vacation budget.

Hotel Copacabana Havana Review

Hotel Copacabana Havana

Address: Calle 3ra. e/ 62 y 64 C. Miramar Playa, Habana

Havana Reviews Price, Location, Families, Easy Access to Old Havana

The HavanaReviews.com team stayed at the impressive oceanfront Copacabana Hotel which is located in a residential area in the western district of Havana, surrounded by diplomatic embassies, shopping centers and close to the national aquarium. The Copacabana hotel Havana is often overlooked due to a tourists being unfamiliar with Havana and the short distance between this hotel and Old Havana and the colonial heart of the city. But Copacabana Havana offers something many more popular hotels in Havana don´t which is a true sea front location, both freshwater and seawater bathing and the feeling of a true vacation hotel which is lost in the Havana city center hotels. Copacabana is a 3-star property offering great rates which houses 168 comfortable and elegantly decorated rooms, designed with attractive decor. For those with a family the hotel layout is ideal as the grounds are quite large and kids can be left to play safely.

Hotel Copacabana Havana

Getting into Old Havana takes minutes by cab and those who are more adventurous could walk there in about 30 minutes. The HavanaReviews.com team was given a seafront room which offered spectacular views of the sea and pool. The Hotel Copacabana Havana is considered a budget hotel because it is competing with city center and more expensive hotels in Havana. However, it’s the bargain of the century for those in the know and those who understand that being in Miramar means being 5 minutes from the locations others have paid twice or three times the amount for hotels in the Havana old town. The hotel was completely refurbished in 2013 and most reviews of Copacabana Hotel Havana are outdated.

Hotel Melia Cohiba Havana Review

Hotel Melia Cohiba Havana

Address: Av. Paseo E – 1a Y 3a, Vedado, Ciudad De La Habana, Cuba

Havana Reviews True 5 star standards, Restaurants, Business Center, Pool area & gym

The HavanaReviews.com team stayed at the Melia Cohiba Havana this fall. The Melia Cohiba, along with its parent chain hotel, the Melia Habana, offer international standards of accommodation in Cuba but make no pretences concerning their hotels which are devoid of Cuban character in just about all respects besides the staff. In fact, we were told that the Melia Cohiba was actually a hotel designed to be built in Spain which never went ahead and the architectural drawings were simply sent to Cuba in the early 90´s. The Melia Cohiba rooms are large and comfortable, and most have excellent views over the Havana Malecon and down the coastline, particularly those on the higher floors however the westward view is blocked on most floors by the Habana Riviera Hotel just out front. The executive floors and services here make this by far the best choice for business travelers visiting Havana, and it’s got a brilliant outdoor pool and the best equipped health club we’ve found at any hotel in Havana. In fact the The HavanaReviews.com team spent some time in the Sauna and Jacuzzi area which was utterly delightful and just 10 CUC per person. The Melia Cohiba Havana has a wide range of restaurants and lobby & mezzanine level shops, and even its buffet restaurant is excellent, with live cook stations and enough space and flow so as not to feel like a stampede at breakfast.

Melia Cohiba Habana Cafe

One night we were offered free entry into the Habana Café which is one of the better club/restaurants in Havana, with a nightly entertainment, show and live music. Particularly amusing is the old Cubana Mail delivery plane hanging from the ceiling.

The Melia Cohiba Havana offers executive floors and Servicio Real upgrade, which includes Internet and business-center privileges, as well as a constantly refreshed and extensive buffet in the executive lounge; make this by far the best choice for business travelers. We took one day of the upgrade and it was well worth the extra if you intend to take a day off from visiting Havana and simply stay at the hotel. Otherwise it makes no sense to pay the extra.

Melia Cohiba Pool

What we found was that overall there’s great service, especially the concierge. Pool and surrounding area (including gym) are huge and meticulously cleaned and maintained.

We found room service to be prompt and reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel of the Melia Cohibas calibre. Hotel is very well-located for restaurants, jazz clubs and the boardwalk or ‘Malecon’. There is both a supermarket and an excellent jazz club called the ‘Jazz Café’ directly across the street from the Melia Cohiba in which we had a few Mojito´s for just 3 CUC each.

Old Havana is about 10 minutes away and we made good use of the free, timely & reliable hotel shuttle service almost every day during our 3 night stay.

We highly recommended the Melia Cohiba if you are simply looking for word class accommodations in Havana and don’t need/want the old colonial and sometimes quirky accommodations in Old Havana.

Hotel Telegrafo Havana Review

Hotel Telegrafo Havana Front

Address: Calle Prado 408, Havana, Cuba

Havana Reviews 5star location & 3 star price, surrounding restaurants, clean rooms, good breakfast

The HavanaReviews.com team stayed at Hotel Telegrafo Havana earlier this year. Hotel Telegrafo was restored in the mid 2000´s but is actually over a century old, yet it has the boldest and most contemporary architecture and interior design in Old Havana.

The HavanaReviews.com team found that instead of trying to recapture a sense of the past like the Hotel Nacional de Cuba does, this place offers a unique mix of Art Deco furnishings, contemporary light fixtures. Lots of modern Cuban art and sculptures are exhibited throughout the hotel, some of which are temporary galleries as we found one morning when all the paintings had been changed overnight! The rooms have high ceilings giving a sense of roominess, and proportionately high intricately designed headboards. Our room had views over the Parque Central hotel and down the street. Some of the rooms have less desirable views onto an interior courtyard. We liked the hotel from the outside and also the entrance and lobby, especially the lobby bar which features the old archways of the original buildings structure from the early 1900´s.

Hotel Havana Telegrafo

Sadly, the modern and minimalistic interior design winds up leaving the rooms feeling a bit cold and uninviting. The Hotel Telegrafo Havana snack bar is located in a first-floor courtyard besides the aforementioned ancient brick-and-stone arches in ruin, which set off a massive and intricate mosaic wall, small pool, and contemporary track lighting. Its open 24 hours but is not a hive of activity during any of those hours… The hotel has a few computers with Internet connections, and WiFi which is not as fast as other we´ve used but it’s acceptable. The Hotel Telegrafo Havana offer an almost identical location to its overpriced neighbors of the Hotel Saratoga and Hotel Parque Central but at about half the price.

Hotel Telegrafo Havana

For this reason alone we found the hotel to be very reasonable based upon our interest of discovering Old Havana rather than being holed up in the hotel all the time. Around the hotel are abundant Paladares (private restaurants) which in many ways negate the need to take anything but breakfast at this hotel. We certainly weren’t short of places to eat, all of which were extremely cheap compared to a single meal at the Telegrafo. We highly recommend getting bed & breakfast at the Hotel Telegrafo.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel; we spent most of our time outside of it and the rest sleeping and for this reason the Hotel Telegrafo is an ideal choice for those with a limited budget but who also want the chic Parque Central Location.
